River's Edge Farm welcomes back Rebecca Lynch-Therin

Jun 26, 2011

Rebecca Lynch-Theran will be joining the River’s Edge Farm staff as an instructor beginning Tuesday, July 5th.   Rebecca has been instructing and training horses professionally for the past 15 years. She began teaching hunt seat equitation at River's Edge Farm while working for Sue. Rebecca also assisted with managing the farm as we began. Rebecca worked for Far Meadow Farm in Morris, CT for nearly ten years as the assistant and then head trainer further expanding her experience as a professional in the equine industry. Rebecca attended Western Connecticut State University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology. She continues to pursue her passion with riders and horses.

Rebecca finds it essential to build trusting relationships with her students and horses to create a positive and healthy environment.  Most of all, she believes in having fun and truly enjoying the students and horses that come into her life.

A note from Sam Black, Assistant Trainer/Barn Manager

Jun 19, 2011

To My Friends and Customers,

After a great deal of thought and careful consideration, I have made the decision to further my education and to pursue my Masters Degree.  I have been accepted into the graduate program for English Composition at San Francisco State University for the Fall, 2011.  River's Edge has been my "second home" since Decemeber 2003 and, as such, I will miss everyone in the REF family immensely.  The time I have spent here makes up a very important portion of my life and the innumerable memories I take with me will be forever cherished.  My last working day will be Friday, July 1.

Rebecca Lynch-Therin will be replacing me temporarily.  She worked for River's Edge in the past, both as an instructor and within the summer camp program.  Additionally, she was the Head Trainer at Far Meadow Farm in Morris, CT for four years.  Rebecca is a wonderful person with a wealth of experience and knowledge and I know that you will enjoy working with her.

Indoor Footing Replaced !

Dec 15, 2010

Thank you everyone for your patience with this week's schedule.  Hopefully our facility being closed for 2 days will have been worth your wait.  We are happy to announce that as of this morning our horses are now riding on Brand New Footing in the Indoor Arena.  Through the work of Mesa Construction, we removed the old footing and replaced the base, then added an 1 1/2" of compressed sand and ground rubber - leaving us with fresh new sand/rubber footing.  In addition, new schooling standards and poles replaced the old.  So with new footing both indoors and out we will walk, trot, canter and gallop our way into the New Year.

A Great Big Thanks to All of Our IEA Riders & Parents

Dec 12, 2010

Susan, Sam, and I were humbled by the amazing dedication a group of 21 riders and their families showed yesterday, Saturday, December 11th.  After hosting an IEA Show last weekend the River's Edge Equestrian Team joined forces with the Hidden Brook Equestrian Team to Co-Host another IEA Show.  To begin to thank people by name would be unfair as every member of the team including their parents contributed in significant ways along with the riders and parents from Hidden Brook to insure a successful show.  We would especially like to thank Westbrook Hunt Club and Jane Dow-Burt for the opportunity to use such a wonderul facility, especially during this winter season.   Finally, we would like to thank all the IEA Teams who showed and road at our Show.  May everyone have a blessed holiday season and a healthy New Year!

Thanks to Everyone Who Made our 1st "Home" IEA Show a Success

Dec 05, 2010

Before our eyes close, Ray, Sam and I wanted to say how grateful we are for the complete team here at River's Edge. The support shared between parents, riders, staff and other farms today made the first IEA Show we hosted a success in many ways.  We will post more information by Tuesday.  Before we do that .... we really have to thank Tom and Jane Dow-Burt for allowing us to make the Westbrook Hunt Club our farm away from farm for today.

Horse Show Attendees Applaud the New Footing

Nov 01, 2010

First, thanks to everyone who attended our  "C" Rated "Halloween Horse Show" this past Sunday.  We really appreciate the support you provide us here at River's Edge Farm.  We would also like to thank the weatherman for being wrong once again as the day turned out to be a cool but sunny day.  As this was our first show on the new footing in our outdoor ring we asked for honest feedback from the farm owners/trainers who competed and the overwhelming response was a big thumbs up.  We would like to thank Mesa Excavation and Paving of Bethany, CT for doing and outstanding job.  Paul and Mark Crotta who also own and operate C & S Ranch ( a western facility) went out of their way to ensure that we received not only a job well done, but outstanding service as well.  Several people asked us for their contact information - they can be reached at 203-393-2050.  They've been installing and servicing riding rings and arenas for some 30 years and once lived up to our expectations.  We look forward to welcoming everyone back for our final "C" Rated show of the year on November 21st.

Congratulations to Ally D'Amico, Christina Martinelli and Michelle Zackin!
